Millions of bloggers using Blogger will now be questioning how secure Blogger really is although Google made a public explanation about yesterday’s incident.

The official Google blog was hacked, and the hacker purportedly inserted a weird post about Google Adword’s click-to-call test. Ironically, the hacked post appeared just after Google posted an article about their security. A screenshot of the hacked post was managed to be captured by John Resig:

This is an excerpt of Google’s explanation

A bug in Blogger enabled an unauthorized user to make a fake post on the Google Blog last night, claiming that we’ve discontinued our AdWords click-to-call test. The bug was fixed quickly and the post removed. As for the click-to-call test, it is progressing on schedule, and we’re pleased with the results thus far.

The bug must be really potentially dangerous to Blogger’s network as the hacker managed to hack the official Google blog!

There could be other possibilities too. Perhaps a disgruntled Google employee had posted the post.. or… let’s not speculate too much :)
